November 8, 1629

The Battle

The Objective : The Catholic forces have gathered to put down the Bohemian rebellion. The rebels consider themselves to be in a strong position and are not expecting the Catholics to attack, they have made only slight attempts to fortify the high ground (no more than four units/guns can be in fortifications), although they can occupy the Star Palace (represents hard cover for infantry forces within it). The Catholics must take the high ground and the Star Palace, the Rebels must hold the high ground.

The Outcome : The battle opens at noon with a short artillery barrage from the Catholics and then a general advance with their Cossacks attempting to circle round to the rear. The rebels advance some infantry in a counter-attack but fire ineffectively. The Hussar units refuse to move and some rebel units start to fall back. The Catholic’s eventually overrun the rebels fortifications and have taken the heights after a few hours. The rebellion is finally defeated after the Bohemian forces in the Star Palace surrender.
