The Objective : Tilly is attempting to catch Mansfelds baggage train and prevent it from crossing the river. Colonel Obentraut’s force is attempting to delay the approaching Catholic forces while Manfeld extracts as much of his force as he can.

Special Rules : The baggage train moves at one inch per turn and does not need to be commanded to do so. Enemy units in contact with the baggage for three consecutive turns delivers control of the baggage into enemy hands (allowing them to direct its movement). Any units in contact with the baggage automatically become disordered (but can be rallied and remain formed and in contact with baggage).

Mansfeld can fire the village, this will completely block visibility for the Catholics across the river, this allows the Protestant side to remove any units on that side of the river (record location on map). It costs one command to fire the village.

The Outcome : Tilly’s force caught the rear guard but this managed to cross the river under cover of artillery fire from the other bank of the river. Mansfeld set light to the village and prepared an ambush for the Catholic forces should they cross the river, the smoke obscured his deployment. Tilly sent his cavalry across the bridge but Mansfelds cavalry managed to drive them back, some of the Catholic infantry that managed to cross the river repelled the Protestant attacks and prevented a rout. The Catholic force withdrew across the river and Mansfeld managed to extract his force largely intact.
