Battle of Preston

Scale: Skirmish

Government Deployment: The Government force deploys in both of their own deployment areas and takes the first turn.

Jacobite Deployment: The Jacobite army deploys within the town and the surrounding fields but outside of the Government deployment area. The Jacobites are allowed to construct four barricades, these count as hard cover for the defenders and fortifications when being attacked. Jacobite units need only to be marked on the players map until spotted by their opponents.

Special Rules: The river can only be crossed at the bridge. The Jacobite artillery is of poor quality and can only fire every other turn. Jacobite units need only to be placed on the table when within twelve inches of Government troops.

Outcome: The Government force surrounded the town and launched attacks at several points which were beaten back with some loss. With the prospect of more Government troops arriving and little hope of breaking out, the town surrendered the following day.
